3 Reasons To Increase Security Around Your Commercial Building

Blog

As a commercial property owner, you have a lot at stake. Most commercial buildings host multiple companies, and if you want to keep your building full and the vacancy rate low, you need to make sure you provide a safe work environment for all the employees. A safe work environment can be provided by increasing the security around your building, especially for the following reasons.

Reason #1: Neighborhood Seeing an Increase in Crime

If the crime rate has gone up in the general neighborhood where you are located, there is a good chance that eventually, your commercial building could experience some crime as well. If you notice a rising trend in crime, such as break-ins or assaults in your area, it is time to take action and make sure you have a visible security presence around your building.

One of the best ways to achieve that goal is by hiring a security company to patrol inside, outside, and around your building. Having a visible security presence will help keep criminal activity away from your building and will help to create a safe area for your employees.

Reason #2: Concerning Activities Around Your Building

If you have been noticing activities around your building that are causing you concern, such as graffiti sprayed on the walls or things that are randomly trashed, it may be time to get someone to patrol the outside of your building.

These acts of vandalism often increase if the perpetrators see that you don't respond to the acts. If people are messing with the outside of your building, you need to install some well-placed security cameras and hire a security team to keep your building safe.

Reason #3: Only Having a Security System in Place

If you only have one security system in place, you are probably not taking the security of your building and your employees seriously enough. You should have layers of security protection in place.

For example, you should use some sort of access control system to limit who comes into your business, or you should have a lobby that stops guests before they proceed into the building. You should have security cameras up and a team monitoring the security feed live. Additionally, you should have actual security guards on-duty.

When you own a commercial building, it is your duty to keep all your tenants and their employees safe. If there has been an increase in crime around or near your building, it is time to implement a multi-layer security system. You want your building to be a safe zone for all who use it.
